Stories from fellow loss Mom’s – Maggie’s Story
It’s Thursday once again and I have an incredible love hate relationship with this day. I love that I get to share such amazing women and their stories, but I hate the reason I’m sharing them.
Today’s amazing Mother reached out to me to share her story and she just so happens to be a fellow upstate New Yorker. I was pretty excited about that even though we are still a few hours away from each other.
I’m so glad she reached out to me, I feel very fortunate to have been able to get to know her.
Name- Maggie Lashinsky

Best advice you’ve received- take pictures, lots of pictures. And don’t let anyone tell you how you should feel.
Favorite place you’ve ever visited- punta cana, Dominican Republic we got married there and celebrated our sunshines first birthday.
Biggest accomplishment- starting a support group for breastfeeding moms in my area when I was pregnant with my angel, still running it two years later with over 2,700 members.
Ways you honor your angel/angels- helping other moms, talking about loss, normalizing grief.
Describe yourself in 4 words- empathic, supportive, mom, creative
What food you’ve never tried and why- I’m pretty optimistic when it comes to food, there’s really nothing I wouldn’t try once! Life is short!
What inspires you- life and empathy! We’re not guaranteed how long we’re here for, so always be kind and empathic to everyone.
Our daughter(sunshine) Cassidy was born in 2013, we decided when she was around 2 to start expanded our family. In May 2015 at 38.5 weeks we found out our son had no heart beat after weeks of complaining of slowed movement and being told that was “normal”. Our son Lyon was stillborn May 28th. Our daughter struggled, and still struggles with serious sibling grief. In September 2015 we got pregnant again and miscarried November 7th, 2015. January 2016 we went on a cruise for our daughters 3rd birthday and came back pregnant again. Our rainbow baby was born October 16, 2016. He was also born with a nuchal cord, we were very lucky and extremely thankful that the medical staff was aware and ready!
